ART IS THE EXIT

My name is Loretta, and I am a London based contemporary artist. Working primarily with acrylics and surrealism, my practice explores the deeper and often unseen dimensions of human experience, inviting viewers to reflect on emotion, perception, and the inner world.

About me

I have always been drawn to art throughout my life, but in recent years I began to explore it on a much deeper level. During difficult periods, painting became a form of escape from ordinary life and a way to express feelings that were difficult to communicate.

I found a way to process my emotions, explore my inner world, and transform personal experiences into something meaningful. It became a way of healing, but also a way of discovering a part of myself that I had always felt drawn towards.

I am a self-taught artist based in London, working primarily with acrylics and surrealism. I have not studied art formally. Instead, I have developed my practice through continuous experimentation. Trying new techniques, exploring different approaches, and learning through the process of creating.

Over time, I have grown and improved, but I see art as an endless journey of discovery. I am still learning, still experimenting, and still finding new ways to express what I feel.

My work is drawn from the complexities of the inner world. The emotions, thoughts, connections, and experiences that often remain beneath the surface. Through surreal imagery, I explore themes of vulnerability, self-discovery, and the quiet search for something beyond what we already know.

I am interested in giving form to feelings that are not always easy to articulate. My paintings often emerge from personal experiences and emotional states, transformed into visual worlds where reality and imagination can overlap.

I believe there is something deeply personal in the way we experience art. A painting can reveal something different to each person depending on what they carry within them at that particular moment in life. Rather than offering a single interpretation, I want my work to leave space for the viewer to find their own meaning and form their own connection with it.

Each piece begins with an intention: a feeling, an idea, a question, or something I want to explore. I see painting not simply as creating an image, but as a way of giving shape to something that might otherwise remain unseen.

For me, art is an ongoing conversation between what I experience, what I create, and what the viewer brings with them. There is always something more to discover, within the painting, and within ourselves.

About my work

My work explores the inner world: our emotions, thoughts, relationships, and experiences that often remain unseen. Through surreal imagery, I explore themes of vulnerability, transformation, self-discovery, and the desire to understand what lies beyond the familiar.

I am interested in expressing feelings that are not always easy to put into words. My paintings are often inspired by personal experiences and emotions, which I turn into visual worlds where reality and imagination can overlap.

Each painting begins with a feeling, an idea, or a question I want to explore. For me, painting is a way of giving shape to things that are often difficult to see or express.

I believe there is something deeply personal in the way we experience art. A painting can become something different to each person depending on what they carry within them, what they are going through, or where they are in their life. Rather than telling the viewer exactly what to feel, I want my work to leave space for their own interpretation.

My intention is to create a space where feelings can be expressed, explored, and perhaps understood in a different way. Through my work, I hope to suggest that even within difficult experiences, there can be room for healing, change, and the possibility of something beyond them.
